Meetings are every other month. A free meal is served before the meeting. Call 270-273-0065 if you are interested in getting involved. There are no dues or requirements to join; you just have to be interested in working to make McLean County a healthy, drug-free and safe place for our youth.

Progress Report

McLean County Community Coalition Collaborated with:

  • McLean County High School, Youth Services Center and Youth to implement the "Change of Heart" Program
  • Law Enforcement, Senior Center, Health Dept. Churches, City Govt.,  FRYSC, Comm. ED and Comm. Groups to implement a Prescription DRUG TOSS.
  • The Champions Against Drugs Youth, County Judge, Health Council, High School to promote "The Great American Smoke Out".
  • The Health Council and Youth  to work toward a Smoke Free Work Place Ordinance.
  • The District Court to establish a Drug Court
  • The schools, Family Resource/Youth Services Centers and DARE Officer to train all 4th –8th  grade students drug prevention skills
  • The Community Education, Family Resource/Youth Services Centers, Migrant Program, schools, and businesses  to raise awareness and promote prevention of substance abuse i.e. Red Ribbon Week
  • The Youth Services Center, youth and schools to provide "After Prom" drug free alternative activities
  • The youth, churches and schools to promote developmental assets with "Help Youth Succeed" Pin
  • The businesses to reduce tobacco advertising "Operation Storefront"
  • The volunteers and schools to establish a mentoring  program
  • The Sheriff's Department to increase alcohol check points
  • The District Court  and the Circuit Court Clerk to require youth with alcohol charges to complete "Prime for Life" intervention program
  • The newspaper and radio to run substance abuse prevention articles and ads 
  • The County Health Board to provide information on the health dangers of tobacco products to the community.
  • Submitted prevention grants and reports to: Drug Free Communities, Champions Against Drugs, KY-ASAP, SPF-SIG Grant,  ALERT -Tobacco Environmental Prevention Strategies
  • The Sheriff's Department to establish/ promote an Underage Drinking Prevention Tip Line
  • The Youth Services Center and schools to establish a drug testing policy
  • The Family Resource/Youth Services Centers and businesses to establish a prevention library
  • Churches and recovery groups to promote Celebrate Recovery
  • Schools to provide substance abuse prevention training to 9th grade teachers and parents
  • "Safe Parent In Network" to provide substance abuse prevention program-"Parent to Parent"
  • Schools to provide violence/bullying prevention training to all High School and Middle School  teachers
  • Parents to provide substance abuse prevention information (monthly newsletters, Back to School Bashes, PTA meetings, open house, etc.)
  • National and state agencies to receive training on Developmental Assets, internet safety, grant  writing, coalition building and substance abuse prevention
  • The community to provide prevention awareness programs at the Health and Safety Fair and to community assembles.
  • Businesses to display "Proud To Be Smoke Free" signs.
